Get to know Damien

Damien is a true Devonian, having been born in Exeter, where he still lives, and working in Ottery St Mary.

He is married to Alison and has three children; Jack and twin daughters, Sophie and Evie.  His focus is obviously his family who he wholeheartedly adores.  But in the small amount of spare time that he gets, he enjoys watching and playing football, and is a regular visitor to the gym.

“What’s your proudest moment as a financial adviser / planner?”
“Becoming a Chartered Financial Planner. It took years of hard work, it feels great to be recognised as one of the most highly-qualified financial planners in the UK and I truly believe it will benefit my clients.”

“What do you most enjoy about life at Otter Financial Services?”
“Seeing all of our clients living fulfilled, meaningful, and financially secure, lives.”

“What’s the best thing about living in Devon?”
“I just love Devon; the clean air, access to coast and moors, good food, country pubs. Living in Exeter is city living at its best.”

“Why should clients choose to work with Otter?”
“Everyone we meet is different, therefore, we treat each person as an individual to ensure they receive a service designed perfectly for them. We are passionate about our own dreams and aspirations; therefore, we are equally as passionate in helping our clients achieve theirs. We understand our clients have worked hard for their money, consequently, we don’t ‘gamble’ this on the latest fashion or fads. All our processes are built on sound empirical evidence that have been independently tested and verified.  We only act on evidence and not hunches.”

The important, official, bit

All investment advisers must be authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Damien is no exception. You can see his entry on the FCA Register by clicking here.

Furthermore, every financial adviser must also hold a valid Statement of Professional Standing (SPS) issued by an accredited body. This is renewed annually and SPS confirms that the adviser is suitably qualified, and has undertaken sufficient Continuous Professional Development to keep his or her knowledge up to date.

You can view Damien’s current SPS by clicking here.

A word of warning, if someone offers you financial advice who isn’t on the FCA Register, or who won’t let you see their SPS, be very wary, it could be the first signs of a financial scam.
